Why Spell Cat

Spell Cat provides many ideas to develop spelling skills. Its’ innovative format includes windows to place letter tiles in, encouraging children to spell while removing the demands of forming letters.

It develops sequential memory for words & partial word recognition.

Learning to spell includes developing an awareness of the sounds in a word and associating the sounds with the Letters. In Spell Cat, they find the matching letter tiles. Then, they write the word, building a writing memory.

How to Play & Learn?

1. Choose a spelling picture word card & find the letter tiles that match the letters on the card. Place the letter tiles in the correct sequence in the spelling tray & close the windows.
2. Close your eyes and try to visualise letters Or say them aloud Or with your eyes closed, write the words in the “Air” using your index finger and middle finger.
3. Finally, write the word on the whiteboard from memory.
4. To check whether the spelt word is correct, lift the doors and match the letter tiles to the handwritten word. If you spelt correctly, feed the cat & keep track of the number of words you learnt to spell today!
